Racheal Kundananji is one of several players ushering Zambia into a new era of women’s football. Her rise to the top has been wildly impressive, beginning her career in her homeland in 2018 before becoming the world’s most expensive player when she moved from Spain to the USA, signing for NWSL club Bay FC. For Zambia, Kundananji has been an integral member of a squad that keeps shattering glass ceilings. In 2020, they came through qualifying to reach their first-ever Games at Tokyo 2020. The firsts continued, as they debuted at the Women’s World Cup in 2023, before Kundananji helped Zambia secure a berth at a second successive Games, this time at Paris 2024. It has been a meteoric rise, one that continues to inspire young girls across Africa.
