In addition to his Olympic gold, Oleg Tyurin won the 1964 European Championships, silvers at the 1962 World and 1965 European Championships, and a bronze at the 1963 Europeans, all with his partner Boris Dubrovsky in the double sculls. Tyurin was a member of the Trud Leningrad crew that won the Stewards' Challenge Cup at the 1961 and 1962 Henley Royal Regatta. Domestically, Tyruin won four Soviet titles in 1963-65 and 1967, all in double sculls, and the first three with Dubrovsky. After his sporting career, Tyurin worked as a rowing coach in St. Petersburg.
