A reliable performer on the world stage for nearly two decades, Marlon Devonish’s career goes back as far as 1994 when he was part of the British sprint relay team that won the World Junior Championship. Before leaving the junior ranks he added gold medals in both the 200 m and 4 x 100 m at the European Juniors of 1995. Devonish has been a remarkably consistent performer over the course of his career though he only won three individual major championship medals. A silver over 200 metres at the 2002 Commonwealth Games was his best performance and he also won bronze medals over the same distance at the 2002 and 2006 European Championships. His prowess at bend running has made him invaluable as relay runner and he has been a part of the British squad for fourteen years. In that time he has helped England or Great Britain claim four World Championship medals, a European title in 2006 and three gold medals at the Commonwealth Games. Devonish is best remembered for running the third leg of 4 x 100 final at the Athens Olympics where took the baton in third place and passed it on in the lead of the race.
Personal Bests: 100 – 10.06 (2007); 200 – 20.19 (2002).
