Trudi Meyer, a German gymnast from Hannover, won the gold medal with the German team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The eight exercises were held outdoors in front of 20,000 spectators at Dietrich Eckart Stage, nowadays called Waldbühne. She won the individual competition, for which medals were not awarded.
Meyer was also German Champion in 1936, and then one of the favorites for the 1940 Games, but when they were cancelled she finished her career. She then married water polo player Bernhard Baier in 1940. By profession, she became a gymnastics school teacher.
