Fred Børre Lundberg was one of the great Nordic combined competitors of the 1990s, winning four medals at the Winter Olympics and six at the World Championships. Lundberg competed at the 1992, 1994, and 1998 Winter Olympics, winning the individual Nordic combined event in 1994 at Lillehammer, and adding three team medals with silvers in 1992 and 1994 and a bronze in 1998. At the World Championships, Lundberg was individual champion in 1991 at Val di Fiemme and 1995 at Thunder Bay, adding four team medals – a gold in 1997 and silvers in 1993, 1995, and 1999.

Lundberg won the Holmenkollen Medal in 1998, shared with Larisa Lazutina, Aleksey Prokurorov, and Harri Kirvesniemi. He never won at Holmenkollen but had second-place finishes in 1991, 1992, and 1994. He won nine World Cup Nordic combined events during his career. Lundberg later started a relationship with Norwegian cross-country star Marit Bjørgen. Lundberg started a career in personal fitness and became CEO of Gymtimen, which offers fitness training to companies.
