个人信息

In 1919, Clyde King was only rowing for the plebe crew at the Naval Academy and was much better known as a football player for the Middies. But because of his outstanding strength and endurance he was taught to row from the port side and stroked the Annapolis eight at the 1920 Olympics. King graduated in 1922, but not before helping their football team defeat Army in 1919 by scoring all of Navy’s points with two field goals in a 6-0 victory. He resigned his commission in 1922, but was called to active service during World War II. He remained an active officer until 1958, retiring as a rear admiral. He then spent his civilian life in the glass business, but was very active in promoting sports through membership in many clubs and organizations.
