Claude Bourquard competed at two consecutive Olympic Games, winning a team épée bronze in 1964, while placing sixth individually. At the World Championships, he won team épée titles in 1962, 1965 and 1966, an individual épée silver in 1966, team épée silver in 1961, 1963, and 1967, and team épée bronze in 1959. Bourquard won a team épée gold in 1959 and individual épée silver in 1963 at the Mediterranean Games. He was also the French individual épée champion in 1967.
