个人信息

Bradley “Brad” Gushue won a Newfoundland and Labrador Junior Provincial Championship in 1995 and decided that he wanted to capture more as the skip (captain) of his own rink (team). He was immediately successful, taking the title in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001, in addition to winning the Canadian Junior National and Junior World Championships in his final year as a junior, 2001. He also served as an alternate on John Morris’ team when they won the Junior World Championships in 1998. After only a year curling outside the junior level, Gushue began capturing provincial championships in 2003 and, through 2009, only lost the provincials once in 2006. Despite this, however, he never managed to pull off a victory at the national level until 2005, when his rink took the 2005 Olympic trials and earned its opportunity to represent Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Team Gushue and Canada won the tournament, taking home Canada’s first Olympic gold in men’s curling, and Newfoundland’s first in any sport. Since his Olympic experience, Gushue has gone on to win three Brier tournaments and two medals (gold and silver) at the World Championships. In 2006, he co-authored a book about his life entitled “Golden Gushue: a Curling Story”.
