Benito Rigoni became interested in sports at an early age. Later he started bobsledding and was selected for the Italian national team, originally joining the four-man team of Sergio Zardini, then switching to Eugenio Monti’s team, winning the Italian Championships in the four-man in 1957 and the two-man in 1961. Rigoni won a gold medal at the 1961 World Championships in the four-man event. With Italia II, piloted by Monti, Rigoni won a bronze medal in the four-man at the 1964 Olympic Winter Games.
