个人信息

Aurél von Kelemen played tennis at the 1912 and 1924 Olympics. Competing for the Magyar Atlétikai Club of Budapest, he was a five-time Hungarian doubles champion. He played in the 1925 Davis Cup for Hungary, playing doubles in one tie, in a losing effort. Von Kelemen was third at the 1920 Slovakian International.

Von Kelemen was well known as an administrator of tennis in Hungary, serving as a vice-president of the Hungarian Tennis Federation. He wrote books on tennis, lectured on sports and tennis at Semmelweis University, and introduced the use of red clay to Hungary. In 1940 von Kelemen was awarded the title of Oberregierungsrat by Hungarian Governor Miklós Horthy for his sport achievements.

In June 1930 von Kelemen and several associates with their conglomerate Duray és Kelemen Terménykereskedelmi Részvénytársaság were accused of embezzlement and arrested. The case involved accusations that von Kelemen’s firm supplied the Army and bribed logistics officers to bypass the shipment regulations of horse supplements. Several people involved in this scandal spent time in prison but von Kelemen was cleared of all charges.
