个人信息

Like all his colleagues on the 1920 Olympic polo team, Arthur Harris enjoyed a distinguished military career after graduating from West Point in 1914. He retired from the army in 1948 with the rank of brigadier general, having previously commanded the 1st Army (1941-43) and served as military attaché to U.S. Ambassadors in Mexico and Argentina between 1943-46, for which he was awarded the Legion of Merit. Harris played in both matches at the Antwerp Olympics and helped his side collect the bronze medal with victory over Belgium in the third place match.

At the time, Arthur was involved in the occupation of the Rhine, and he, along with three fellow officers travelled to England shortly before the Olympics to take part in the Novices Cup at Ranelagh which they duly won after beating Foxhunters 9-5 in the final. His only major polo honor in his home country was in winning the 1931 Class D Championship with the Fort Sheridan Polo Club.
