个人信息

Almut Brömmel was a remarkably versatile athlete who started in her youth as a swimmer and handball player, diver and gymnast, also playing a little basketball. In track and field she competed in the javelin, hammer and discus throw, and shot put. After her active career she still started at the Seniors World and European Championships up to the 1990s. In these competitions she has won two gold, five silver and four bronze medals in the World Championships and two bronzes at the European Championships. Beside her two Olympic appearances 1956 (thirteenth in the javelin, failed in discus qualification) and 1960 (failed the javelin qualification) she took part in the 1954 and 1958 European Championships and was nominated for the 1969 one, but could not start due to the West German boycott. She won four German titles, and also twelve runner-ups and four third places.

Brömmel was also active as a coach for the technical disciplines in her home club TSV Göggingen Augsburg and as a sports administrator in the Regional Track and Field Association of Bavaria for youth and women. She was awarded the Silver Pin in 1967 and the Golden Pin in 1977 by the German Track & Field Association.

Personal Bests: DT – 49.70 (1971); JT – 55.16 (1968).
