Albert Helgerud’s Olympic career spanned four Olympic Games, 1906-1920, and 21 events, in which he won two gold, four silver, and one bronze medal. In 1922, he was Nordic Champion in precision shooting and was a three-time runner-up at the Norwegian rifle championships. He was born as Albert Thorvaldsen but later adopted his first wife’s name of Helgerud. He was a gunsmith by occupation.
