Adolf Harder was disqualified in the riding element of the modern pentathlon at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and consequently so too was the West German team. By profession, Harder was a policeman and up to 1960 only policemen reasons in the Federal Republic of Germany participated in international modern pentathlon competitions.
