Willi Meurer was one of four German road cyclists participating in the first ever mass start of the Olympic road race at Berlin in 1936. Shortly before the finish line he had a flat tyre and it is unknown whether he finished the race or not. Meurer won the “Rund um Köln” (Around Cologne) in 1936-37 and 1939, and in 1937 was runner-up in the German Road Championship. He won the “Rund um Düren” in 1950.
