Биография

Wendy Wyland moved to Mission Viejo, California when she was 14 to train with Ron O’Brien as a member of the Mission Viejo Nadadores Diving Team. She later attended Florida Atlantic University where she trained again under O’Brien. Wyland was named Swimming World’s World Platform Diver of the Year in 1982 and 1983, after winning the 1982 World Championships and the 1983 Pan American Games on the platform, placing second in 1983 at the Universiade. At the World Cup she was second in 1983 and third in 1981.

After her diving career ended Wyland moved to Rochester, New York where she ran the Webster Aquatic Center and was head swimming and diving coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She suffered with migraine headaches and dizzy spells for almost two years before dying at the young age of 38. Wyland was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2001.
