Биография

Valery Abramov was a distance runner who competed at the 1980 Moskva Olympics in the 5,000 metres, failing to qualify out of the semi-finals. He ran the same event at the 1983 World Championships and the 1982 European Championships, finishing 11th and 6th, respectively. He was also second in the 5K at the 1979 World Cup and the 1981 European Cup. In the 10K, he won a bronze medal at the 1983 European Cup. Abramov won Soviet Championships in the 1,500 m in 1978, the 5,000 m in 1979, and the 10K in 1987. He set two Soviet records in the 5,000, running 13:15.6 in 1979 and 13:11.99 in 1981, and also set a national record in the 10K with 27:55.17 in 1984.
