Биография

Shana Williams was a long jumper who competed at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. A student at Seton Hall University, Williams started out as a heptathlete. She won 11 Big East titles while at Seton Hall, including four consecutive in the high jump. She was third in the long jump at the 1992 NCAA Meet. After college she worked briefly as director of academic advisement at the University of Albany. Williams returned to school at Syracuse University and earned a masters’ degree in exercise science in 2001.

Williams won a gold medal in the long jump at the 1998 Goodwill Games, and also won silver in the event at the 1999 World Indoor Championships. She twice won US Indoor titles, in 1996 and 1999, with a best finish at the outdoor USA Nationals of second in 1996 and 1998.

Williams became a teacher in the Richmond public school system in Virginia then set up her own real estate company before returning to teaching at All Saints Catholic School in Richmond.
