Биография

Onni Pellinen was one of the top Greco-Roman light-heavyweight wrestlers in the world during the 1920s and early 1930s. During his career, Pellinen won Olympic silver in 1932 and bronze in 1924 and 1928. He never competed at the World Championships, but won the 1929 and 1931 European titles, placing sixth at the 1935 European Championships. Domestically, Pellinen earned Finnish Greco-Roman light-heavyweight titles in 1926-27, 1929, 1931-32 and 1935 and a freestyle light-heavyweight title in 1933. He also won the Finnish Workers' Sports Federation championships in Greco-Roman middleweight in 1922 and in 1923 in Greco-Roman light-heavyweight. After finishing his career in 1935, Pellinen worked for 10 years as head coach of the Turkish national wrestling team.
