Биография

Nicole Hoevertsz competed at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics in synchronized swimming. She won multiple Aruban and Antillean championships during her career, and later became a coach of synchronized swimmers. Hoevertsz studied law at the Colegio Arubano, the University of the Netherlands Antilles, and the University of Leiden (Netherlands). She later worked in law, becoming a legal advisor to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Aruba from 1991-94 and since 2002, was Deputy Permanent Secretary to the Council of Ministers of Aruba from 1994-96; served as a legal advisor to the Prime Minister of Aruba from 1997-2001; and was appointed Permanent Secretary to the Council of Ministers of Aruba in 2009.

In sports administration Hoevertsz became secretary-general of the Aruban Swimming Federation in 1991. She served on the organizing committee for the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, and as a member of the Executive Board of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO). Hoevertsz became an IOC Member in 2006, and has served on the following IOC Commissions: Women and Sport; International Relations; Coordination for the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro; Coordination for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in 2020 in Tokyo; Juridical; and Sport and Law.
