Биография

Julie Chu was the first Asian-American female to compete for the United States in the Winter Olympics in a sport other than figure skating. She played in prep school at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, and then attended Harvard, where she won the 2007 Patty Kazmaier Award as the nation’s best female hockey player and graduated in 2007 with a degree in psychology. Chu was a three-time All-American and her 284 points scored is the all-time NCAA record (as of 2009). Chu played for the US at the 2001, 2004-05, and 2007-09 World Championships, helping them win World titles in 2005, 2008, and 2009, has played in seven Four Nations Cups, and played for the US at four Winter Olympics. She has played professionally for the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Western Women’s Hockey League, and is an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota at Duluth and Union College. Growing up, Chu won four national girls’ championships with the Connecticut Polar Bears.
