Before he took part in his first Winter Olympics, Hans Eidenbenz won the 1921 Swiss Ski Championship, which was equivalent to Nordic combined. At Chamonix, he competed in the 18 km cross-country, the ski jumping and Nordic combined. Four years later, he was the bearer of the Swiss flag and speaker of the Athletes’ Oath during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz. At the 1925 World Championships, he competed in three events like the year before in Chamonix, with his best result being 15th in Nordic combined. Later Eidenbenz became an avid golfer and in 1948 initiated the layout of a golf course in Niederbüren, a municipality in the Swiss canton St. Gallen. He was the losing finalist in the Swiss Senior Golf Championship in 1956.
