Биография

Ginette Seguin was active in Canadian and international alpine skiing throughout the 1950s. In 1953 she was third in the combined at the Canadian Championships, but by 1955 was 11th overall nationally and added to Canada’s delegation to the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics only as an extra above its maximum 10 members. She was able to make the journey, however, after it was determined that one of her teammates, Monique Langlais, had not recovered from recently injuries sufficiently to compete. At the Games, Seguin was 33rd in the downhill, 36th in the giant slalom, and joint-18th (with France’s Paule Moris) in the slalom. The following year, however, she won Canadian titles in both the slalom and the downhill, and retired shortly thereafter. Her sister Mimi was also a national-level skier and Ginette’s granddaughter, Kim Lamarre, won a bronze medal in slopestyle skiing at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
