Биография

At the 1904 Olympics, George Wiley led both the two distance races for the better part of each race, but both times he was overhauled by superior sprinters. Wiley went on to become one of the United States' premier distance riders. He won the U.S. professional motor-paced championship five times (1912-13, 1915, and 1917-18) and was also world champion in that event in 1912 – the last American (male) to win a world cycling championship prior to the 1980s. Wiley had a professional riding career which lasted over 25 years. He later became a trainer for the Utica Braves minor league baseball team.
