Биография

Erling Jevne was a specialist in the classical style in cross-country skiing, and better at the longer distances. He was Norwegian Champion three times, at 50 km in 1992, 1994 and 1996, and all his eight national championships medals were won in the 50 or 30 km race in classical style. He was a very important skier for Norway’s relay team in the classical style legs, winning three gold medals with the team: 1995 and 1997 World Championships and 1998 Olympic Winter Games. He was also a member of the relay team that won silver at the 1999 World Championships. Jevne won the 54 km Birkebeinerrennet race from Rena to Lillehammer seven times, in 1994 and then from 1996-2001. The next skier on the list of Birkebeiner winners is Oddmund Jensen with five victories. Jevne had three World Cup victories, winning a very popular victory at Holmenkollen in 1996 in the 50 km classical. He finished his competitive career in 2006, and worked for a Norwegian ski factory as a product developer.
