Биография

Eigil Ramsfjell is considered one of the pioneers of modern curling, but most of his titles came in the years before curling was an Olympic medal sport. Ramsfjell won three World Championships as skip, winning at Berne in 1979, at Perth in 1984 and at Lausanne in 1988. He also won a World silver medal in 1978 and bronze medals in 1983, 1987, 1989, and 1991. At the 1988 Winter Olympics, Ramsfjell skipped the winning team in the curling demonstration event. He was past his prime by 1998 but when curling returned to the Winter Olympics as a medal sport, Ramsfjell skipped the Norwegian rink to a bronze medal. He was also a 15-time Norwegian champion in the period 1976-96, and won nine European Championship medals – one gold, four silver, and four bronze.
