Биография

Dale McClements attended the University of Washington, winning three apparatus titles at the 1963 women’s intercollegiate meet, in the pre-AIAW/NCAA days for women. She competed at the 1963 Pan American Games, winning a gold medal in vault and with the team, adding silvers in all-around and on the uneven bars. In 1962 McClements won AAU titles in all-around and vault, adding nine podium finishes at the AAU Meet from 1962-65. She competed at both the 1962 and 1966 World Championships and then retired from competition. McClements became a gymnastics coach and judge. She started as a high school physical education teacher, but then attended graduate school at the University of Nevada at Reno. She co-owned and coached the Western Gymnastics Foundation in Reno from 1969-78 and was head gymnastics coach at U Nevada Reno from 1970-78. She later coached the Pacific Northwest Twisters in Oregon (1978-79), and coached college gymnastics at U Cal Berkeley (1979-81). She and her husband then moved to Alaska where she coached high school gymnastics for 14 years before teaching at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. She was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1994.
