Биография

Clyde Coffman finished third in the AAU decathlon in 1931-32 and fourth in 1933. Coffman started as a pole vaulter and tied for first in that event at the 1931 Kansas Relays. He was AAU champion in the pentathlon in 1935, and won the Kansas Relays decathlon in 1935, his only decathlon title, finishing second there in 1936 and third in 1934. Coffman finished third at the 1932 Olympic Trials in the decathlon, before placing seventh at the Olympics. He competed for the University of Kansas and just missed making the 1936 Olympic team when he finished fourth at the US Olympic Trials. Coffman was inducted into the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
