Биография

Árpád Miskey started his sports career as a weightlifter, and track & field athlete in the colors of BAK, but from 1907 onwards concentrated on wrestling only. In 1911 and 1912, he was second in the national championship in lightweight and was nominated for the Stockholm Olympics. However, because of the strong domestic competition, he was only able to compete as a middleweight, a category where he had little chance against the heavier competitors.

After World War I, by then over 30-years-old, Miskey continued his sports career. He became three-time national champion in middleweight (1921, 1923-24), then competing in the MAC colors. However, he was not nominated for the 1924 Olympics.

In the 1930’s and 1940’s, Miskey worked as a travelling coach in several rural towns (Mezőtúr, Székesfehérvár, Csíkszereda) in Hungary. In 1947, he was shot under unusual circumstances, but fortunately was not seriously injured.
