Биография

Two-time Olympian Anirban Lahiri has been the flag bearer for Indian golf for a decade now.

With seven Asian Tour titles and two wins on the European Tour under his belt, Anirban Lahiri is one of the most decorated Indian professional golfers.

Born in Pune on June 29, 1987, in an army doctor’s family, Anirban Lahiri had the luxury of easy access to golf courses - something which would eventually go on to mould his career.

Trips with his father, who was a recreational golfer, to the courses and helping him retrieve golf balls sparked a passion for the sport in Lahiri when he was just eight years old.

Lahiri soon picked up the golf club and stepped into the competitive world, starting with the sub-junior Golf Tournament in Calcutta in 1998.

Anirban Lahiri impressed in the junior circuit with his first win coming at the Asian Junior Team Championships in 2005.

To follow his dreams, he moved to Bengaluru in 2005 to train under coach Vijay Divecha.

Anirban Lahiri enjoyed several wins on the national amateur circuit in the next few years, including a team silver at the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
