Scott Shipley was a slalom kayaker who competed at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics. Shipley won silver medals in K-1 slalom at the 1995, 1997, and 1999 World Championships. He also won the individual World Cup K-1 title three times – in 1993, 1995, and 1997. In World Cup events Shipley recorded 24 podiums, with 11 titles.

Shipley attended Georgia Tech where he earned a bachelor’s and a masters’ degree in mechanical engineering. He later went to work for S2O Design and Engineering in Boulder, Colorado.
