Biografia

Raymond Fellay’s greatest moment in alpine skiing came at the 1956 Winter Olympics where, despite being a substitute, he won silver in the downhill behind the great Austrian Toni Sailer, who swept the alpine events. He returned to his native Verbier a celebrity, where he became involved in local politics, the promotion of tourism, and business. In the latter realm, he opened the Fellay Mode & Sport Boutique, which rapidly expanded and is a prosperous venture to this day. He also remained active in skiing, but never participated in another edition of the Olympics, choosing instead to train the men’s national team for the 1960 Games. He stayed involved in skiing and with his business interests until his death from cancer in 1994, at the age of 62.
