Biografia

Montell Griffin was a light-heavyweight boxer at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, losing in the quarter-finals. He turned professional in 1993 and had a solid career in the pro ranks. He twice fought Roy Jones, Jr., winning a 1996 bout when Jones was disqualified for head butts, giving Griffin the WBC light-heavyweight title, and giving Jones his first professional defeat. In an immediate re-match Jones knocked Griffin out in the first round to regain the title. Griffin also twice defeated James Toney by decision, with the first bout giving him the little known WBU light-heavyweight crown.

Griffin had several other title shots and remained a top contender throughout his professional career. He also had wins over top contenders Ka-Dy King, Ray Lathon, Randall Yonker, Derrick Harmon and George Khalid Jones. Griffin fought as a pro through 2010, compiling a career record of 50 wins (30 by KO), 8 losses, and 1 draw.
