Biografia

Matthew Ebden is an Australian tennis player who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s doubles event with his partner John Peers. The victory marked Australia’s second gold medal in tennis and the first since Mark Woodforde and Mark Woodbridge won the same event at Atlanta 1996.

The gold medal at Paris 2024 adds to Ebden’s already impressive cabinet, which includes three Grand Slam doubles titles and a Commonwealth Games bronze in singles.

Ebden's first major title came in 2013 when he won the Australian Open mixed doubles with fellow Australian Jarmila Gajdosova. However, it wasn't until 2022 that he secured his first Grand Slam men's doubles title at Wimbledon with compatriot Max Purcell.

The Australian tennis player achieved a lifelong dream of securing the No. 1 doubles rankings after winning the 2024 Australian Open men’s doubles title with Indian partner Rohan Bopanna.

At 36, Ebden became the third-oldest player in history to achieve the top doubles ranking and the first Australian to do so since Todd Woodbridge in 2001.
