Biografia

Marilyn Brain’s short career with Canada’s national rowing team began in 1981 and achieved its peak at the 1984 Summer Olympics, when she won silver in the coxed fours alongside Barbara Armbrust, Angela Schneider, Jane Tregunno, and Lesley Thompson-Willie. Earlier, at the 1983 Summer Olympics, Brain and Schneider, with Heather Clarke, Cathy Lund , Sarah Ann Ogilvie, Lisa Robertson , Kay Worthington and the non-Olympians Christina Clarke and Margo Longley, had been members of the Canadian eights crew that finished fourth at the 1983 World Championships. A graduate of the University of Victoria’s school of education, she retired from active competition in September 1986 and spent almost nine years, from 1990 through 1999, as a national team coordinator with Rowing Canada. She then worked as a coach and sport administrator until returning to the University of Victoria to pursue a master’s degree in 2007. She graduated in 2009 and now works as a primary school principal. She was named Female Athlete of the Year in Victoria in 1984.
