Biografia

Malcolm Metcalf was AAU and IC4A javelin throw champion in 1932. He competed for Dartmouth and the Olympic Club of San Francisco. Metcalf never played sports in high school but at Dartmouth someone noticed he could throw a football a long way, and suggested he try the javelin. After the 1932 Olympics, Metcalf stayed in Los Angeles and worked for the Mortgage Guarantee Company for a short time. He then worked for Firestone until the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Metcalf returned from Berlin and settled again in Los Angeles, but then became a coach and teacher at Pomona Junior College. He served with the US Navy during World War II for three years and then returned to coach baseball and track at Mt. San Antonio College, which he did for 30 years before retiring.
