Biografia

Although he won a bronze medal in Stockholm, Larry Whitney had not quite reached his peak at the time of the 1912 Olympics. In 1913 he won both the IC4A and the AAU shot put titles, in 1914 he set a Dartmouth record of 48-0½ (14.64) and after winning the IC4A title again in 1915 he retired from competition. While at Dartmouth he also played halfback on the football team and won a varsity letter in basketball. As football and track captain he was one of only three men to captain two different sports at Dartmouth.

Whitney also competed in the 1912 Olympic Baseball demonstration event.

Personal Bests: SP – 48-0½ (14.64) (1914); DT – 41.42 (1913).
