Klaus HENNIG

East German heavyweight judoka Klaus Hennig was eliminated in his semi-final bout at the 1972 München Olympics. He lost to West German Klaus Glahn by Yusei-gachi. In the open class he was eliminated in his first bout. In 1970 he earned the European Open Class Championship, and in 1966-67 and from 1970-72 he won the East German heavyweight titles, adding Open class titles from 1970-72. Hennig later became a soldier in the Nationale Volksarmee (National People’s Army) and worked as a physiotherapist after German re-unification.
