Biografia

Julian Wheeler competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1993 World Championships as a featherweight. He was US Amateur Featherweight Champion in both 1992 and 1993. Wheeler turned pro after the 1993 Worlds and fought professionally through 2002. In 1995 he fought Roberto García for the NABD super-featherweight crown, but lost by decision. Wheeler defeated Jorge Paez in December 1996 to claim the WBC Continental Americas super-featherweight title, but lost to Paez in a re-match in early 1997. In 1998 Wheeler defeated Victor McKinnis to win the IBC light-welterweight title. He defended that title against McKinnis in June 1999. In November 2001 Wheeler defeated Efren Hinojosa for the USBA lightweight crown. In October 2002, attempting to defend that belt, he lost to Leavander Johnson and then retired. Wheeler finished his professional career with a record of 22 wins (8 by KO), 8 losses, and 2 draws.
