Biografia

John Roethlisberger learned gymnastics from his father, Fred Roethlisberger, who competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, His son, John, surpassed that by competing at the 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics. John competed in college at the University of Minnesota, where his father was the coach. He was a three-time NCAA Champion in all-around and won the Big 10 all-around title four times. John won the 1993 Nissen Award given to the top college gymnast in the US.

John Roethlisberger won the US all-around title four times, and won four nationals on pommel horse, his best event. He won the all-around and the pommel horse at the 1996 McDonald’s American Cup. He later started his own gymnastics camp, Flipfest, in Crossville, Tennessee. Roethlisberger’s sister, Marie, was an alternate to the 1984 US Olympic gymnastics team.
