Biografia

Grazia Barcellona was not yet 10 years old when she took up figure skating in 1938 and very soon teamed up with her longtime partner Carlo Fassi. In 1942, they won their first Italian national title in the pairs, and they defended it successfully the following year. In total, they captured 10 national championships, with the remainder coming from 1946 through 1952 and a final one in 1954. Barcellona won her first of five consecutive Italian singles titles in 1948, the same year that she made her major international début at the St. Moritz Olympics. There, she was 24th in the singles and 13th in the pairs with Fassi. At the European Championships the following year, the duo came in 9th, while individually Barcellona was 16th. She later served as a figure skating judge, most notably at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics.
