Biografia

Figure skater Freimut Stein finished eighth at the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympics in the men’s singles. At the 1951 and 1953 World Championships he was 10th on both occasions. At the European Championships he was fifth in 1951, sixth in 1952, and won the bronze medal in 1953. He was the German Champion three years in succession 1952-54.

Stein was even more successful in roller skating, winning the national title from 1950-54, and also both the World and the European titles from 1951-54. In 1954 he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf. After his competitive career he acted as an international referee for ten years.

Stein studied psychology and founded his own practice in Nuremberg. He also wrote books about figure and roller skating. One was published in 1955 and titled Eiskunstlaufen: eine Einführung (Figure Skating: an Introduction). He also wrote books with psychological themes.
