Biografia

Frank Siebeck trained as a plumber, but after his active career worked as a sports coach. He was a world class hurdler, coming to prominence at the 1968 European Youth Championships by winning the silver medal over the 110 hurdles. He again earned silver at the 1970 European Youth Indoors in the 60 hurdles. His greatest moments came in 1971 and 1973, winning the European Championship in the 110 hurdles and the European Indoors 60 hurdles. He won a 1974 bronze and 1975 silver both in the 60 hurdles at the European Indoors.

At the 1972 München Olympics Siebeck finished fifth and four years later was eliminated in the semifinals. Nationally, he won the East German Championships in the high hurdles from 1970-74, adding a 1971 sprint relay title. Indoors he won East German titles in the 55 hurdles in 1970, the 50 hurdles in 1971, and the 60 hurdles in 1973 and 1975. He also set two indoor world records in the 50 hurdles in 1974. Siebeck married pentathlete Irene Sperling, and their son Mark Siebeck participated at the 2008 Athina Olympics as a volleyball player.
