King graduated in 1922, but not before helping their football team defeat Army in 1919 by scoring all of Navy’s points with two field goals in a 6-0 victory. He resigned his commission in 1922, but was called to active service during World War II. He remained an active officer until 1958, retiring as a rear admiral. He then spent his civilian life in the glass business, but was very active in promoting sports through membership in many clubs and organizations.
