Biografia

Christian Neureuther was the best slalom skier in the 1970s in Germany. He won six World Cup races, but never claimed a podium at major championships. At the 1976 Innsbruck and the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Games he finished fifth in slalom on both occasions as his best Olympic results. In 1973 and 1974 he placed second in the slalom World Cup series. In 1971-72, and 1974-78 he won West German slalom titles, and in 1969-70, 1973, and 1975 also won the giant slalom titles. In 1970 he was the Alpine combined champion.

Christian Neureuther later married Rosi Mittermaier, another German Olympic ski star. Her sisters Evi and Heidi were also Olympic Alpine skiers. Rosi and Christian Neureuther raised two children; their daughter Ameli became a fashion designer, while their son Felix became one of Germany’s best slalom skiers. Felix married former cross-country skier and biathlete Miriam Gössner. Christian and Rosi frequently did color commentary on Alpine skiing for German TV. Neureuther first studied medicine but gave it up due to his skiing career.
