Chuck Ferries was a slalom specialist, skiing for the University of Denver. He was one of the first Americans to win a major international race, winning the 1962 Hahnenkahm slalom. Ferries was also 1963 US slalom champion. Ferries later became a ski resort director, and then moved in to the ski industry as director of Scott USA. Very successful in business, in 1993 he took over the Schwinn Bicycle Company as chairman. He also served as chairman of the US Ski and Snowboard Association from 2002-06. Ferries was inducted into the US Ski Hall of Fame in 1989.
