Chari Towne rowed coxless pairs at the 1984 Olympics. She trained at the College Boat Club in Philadelphia, on the Schuylkill River. That was Towne’s only international appearance. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and later earned a masters’ degree in natural resources from the University of Wisconsin. She eventually worked full-time in the environmental field and Towne was later named the 16th riverkeeper of the Schuylkill.
