Biografia

Although Art Devlin qualified for the 1940 Olympic team, he had to wait until 1952 before he could actually compete in the Olympics, as World War II interrupted competition. Devlin joined the U.S. Air Force, serving on a B-24 bomber. He received various honours, including a Purple Heart. After the war, he resumed ski jumping, and came fifth at the World Championships in his hometown of Lake Placid, New York. In 1960, Devlin became a sports commentator for CBS, later joining ABC. As a vice-president of the Organizing Committee, Devlin worked to get the Winter Olympics to Lake Placid in 1980.
