Biografia

Angel Martino was a sprint freestyler who swam at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, winning three gold medals in relays, and adding individual bronze medals in the 1992 50 free, and the 1996 100 free and 100 fly. She won one silver medal at the LC World Championships, in the 4x100 free relay at the 1994 Roma Worlds. She was more successful at the SC Worlds, winning five medals at the 1993 Championships, including gold in the 100 backstroke. Martino also won four gold medals at the 1995 Pan American Games, in both sprint freestyles, the 4x100 free relay, and the medley relay. She was most successful at the Pan Pacific Championships, competing at those in 1987, 1991, 1993, and 1995, winning 10 medals and six golds.

Martino swam in college for Furman University. She initially made the 1988 US Olympic team, but was later disqualified when she had a positive doping test for nandrolone. At the time she was known as Angel Myers. Martino later became a swim coach in Georgia.
