Biografia

Jos Romersa started practicing gymnastics in his home town of Dudelange as a young boy, initially with Jeune Garde Catholique, but later switching to Union. At age 19, he made the national selection for the first time, presumably competing in that year's World Championships where the Luxembourg team placed 7th (and last). Romersa was also elected to go to the 1936 Olympics, where his squad ranked 12th (out of 14) and his best individual result was 58th in the vault. Working as an electrician, Romersa made another international appearance at the 1938 Worlds, and remained in the team selection through World War Two. Romersa's son Marc was also an Olympian, competing in Montréal 1976 as a high jumper. In 2008, all surviving Luxemburgish athletes from 1936-1956 were awarded the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, including the then 92-year-old Romersa.
